The BUZZ 2016 Year in Review
With 2016 finished, BUZZ has taken the time to reflect on this past year of growth.
Having started in 2015, we were still very small at the end of that year, having only 2 long sleeve rash guards released (BUZZ Spectrum and Water). With the help of Fight Family, we got our foot in the door at the start of 2016 with these original 100 shirts, many of which found there way into Buffalo and the surrounding area. We will always be appreciative towards those people who were willing to take a chance on a new product and company.
With our second order arriving just before May, we had our sale at the Buffalo Classic Jiu Jitsu Tournament May 15th, where we sold so many shirts that we were sold out of nearly all sizes of the BUZZ Sight before the Kid's tournament was even over! This order really taught us a big lesson in how popular designs would be, and that small sizes would be necessary as well!
We had sales at the Buffalo Open tournament on September 17th and the Rochester Rumble October 11th, both big days for us to help grow our brand.
We also designed a custom long sleeve for the Saranac Lake High School Football team, BUZZ founder Michael Burpoe's high school team. It was our first use of photography in a shirt and something we want to get back to soon!
Something we are very proud of was our collaboration with Fight Family to design the Fight Family Kimono Company's Gis That Do Good. For every two gis the Fight Family Kimono Company sells they will donate one or the equivalent value in cash to a non profit youth development group that focuses on jiu jitsu.
Most importantly, we had the December Sale, where we offered 25% off on everything from the shop. All of our promo photos got an overhaul with a photoshoot by Fontaine Rittelmann (Read more in our previous post).
We could not believe the support that was shown to us, with so many orders rolling in over the course of a 3 week period that we blew through our original goal of 10 orders in the first 5 days. We are still overwhelmed by how geographically wide the orders were, stretching from California, to Ohio, Florida and New York City.
We are also trying to break into the Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) scene, a sport full of badasses who don't let weather stop them from going out and training. We are working on a design aimed at showing just how hardcore these athletes are.
Thank you again for making 2016 the best year yet! Let's get 2017 in here to dethrone it!
