The BUZZ 2017 Year In Review
A Year of Growth and Learning
Awww, what a year it has been. The year of 2017 has been very good to us at BUZZ Gear, a year of expansion (new tournaments, features, and our first sponsored athlete), hard work (5 new shirts and 4 team design orders), and exciting opportunities (welcome TJ Monroe to the BUZZ Team). 2017 has had it all.
The First BUZZ Athlete, Keith Forant
Giving back has been important to us from day 1. Starting Jiu Jitsu was such an important building block for me, not just as an athlete but as a person, that we were eager to find a way to help grow the sport that has helped to grow us.
Keith Forant is a BJJ Black Belt and has earned the title of Kru in Muay Thai. He is an instructor and coach at Buffalo United Martial Arts, and had fought several times as an Amateur. He has had a very positive impact on the community, teaching to kids and leading by example. We asked to sponsor him for his first pro MMA fight in November, which took place at the Seneca Allegany Resort & Casino.
Keith took the cage like a warrior earning a very dominate decision victory (30-25, 30-26, 30-26). Keith's first opponent (a striker) switched out very close to the fight, and was replaced by a lanky grappler. What might have thrown some fighters didn't seem to faze Keith as he took him down multiple times, smothering him with ground and pound from his signature K-hole position.
Keith improved to 1-0 professionally, and we can't wait to watch him enter the cage again soon!
We had a great time working with some truly exceptional teams and companies this year, including:
Wally MacDonald and the Rochester Police Department
The Fight Family Kimono Company
Lake Effect Martial Arts
Buffalo United Martial Arts
Fairhill Valuation Associates, Inc.
We also have fully launched our Team Design page on our site. You can read more about our process, finished designs, and how to start your own project HERE.
The Finest and Bravest Workout Shirts
And finally we released our first two work out shirt designs. These shirts are are inspired by Police Departments and Fire Departments, whose members are known as the Finest and the Bravest, respectably.
These shirts are in response to a growing number of costumers that have told us they want a synthetic material shirt for when they are working out, that isn't too tight.
In the spirit of giving back, we also are donating $5 from each shirt sold to a charity related to each Department. These donations will be made at the end of January.
